Welcome to the Circulatory System!
Your Circulatory System is commonly referred to as your Cardiovascular System.
Your Cardiovascular System is made of your heart, blood, and blood vessels. Your heart creates pressure when it beats, building up pressure to send blood through veins. Your blood contains blood vessels (to deliver oxygen and fight diseases) and blood vessels (hollow tubes to allow blood to flow through your body). |

Types of Circulation and Circulatory Problems
There are two types of circulation:
- Pulmonary Circulation is circulation between your heart and lungs.
- Systemic Circulation is the circulation between your heart and the rest of your body.
- Illness can occur in your heart, blood, or blood vessels.
- Atherosclerosis occurs when your blood vessels narrow due to a cholesterol build-up.
- High Blood Pressure can cause Atherosclerosis and a higher blood pressure leads to a higher rate of a heart attack, heart failure, kidney disease, or a stroke.
- Heart attacks occur when the heart dies and part of the muscle is damaged; heart failure occurs when the heart can't pump enough blood to your body.
