The Skeletal System
The skeletal system helps us to be able to move. The bones protect parts of the body. For an example; the skull protects the brain and the ribs protects the lungs. There are 206 bones in the avarage adult body. It has two parts: axial and appandicular. 70% of adult bone are minerals and 30% is organic matter. Bones are divided into five catagories; long, short, flat, sesamoid, and irregular. They are held together by connective tissues and fastened by ligaments. Leg bones are so strong, that they can withstand one ton without snapping.
